Collages
This is kind of a revival of an old obsession rather than something new. For the past few weeks I've been using Substack more actively, trying to spend my time reading more long-form content rather than just scrolling on TikTok, and that's where collage making found its way to me. The concept of collage is nothing new to me, but it always felt like something that was quite unreachable as a hobby. To be honest, I'm not sure why I had this thought because all it took was some old magazines, some glue, and one overpriced Moleskine journal (which was not necessary, but Substack propaganda comes with certain aesthetic requirements).
My collages are not anything special to rave about, but it became one of my favorite hobbies to do in my pastime. Something to occupy your hands while rewatching TV shows, talking with friends on the couch while they knit, or just something to do while you want to listen to the new album you had your eye on. My current goal is to create at least one or two collages that I would be willing to post on here.
Journaling
It kind of goes hand in hand with the collages. I was radicalized by the girls with 10 journals in their journals grid (whatever that means). My past journaling tries always end up looking like diaries of Virginia Woolf in her late stage of life. This time I am coming to journaling with medications and vision to reflect, archive, and present my lived experiences and thoughts with design and presentation in mind.
